John Schwartz | Founder and President
John is the founder and president of five organizations that hold Educational Broadband Service (EBS) licenses and was instrumental in making Mobile Citizen possible. Recognized for his 2.5 GHz spectrum management expertise, he has worked to preserve EBS spectrum for the education and non-profit sectors. He started his career in public broadcasting. In 1974, he co-founded and managed WYEP-FM, a noncommercial radio station in Pittsburgh. He later moved to Colorado where he founded KBDI-TV, a public television station that went on the air in 1980. In 1989, John founded The 90's Channel, a cable TV network; in 1995, this venture evolved into Free Speech TV, a television network that is now seen both on cable and direct broadcast satellite. John departed as chief executive of Free Speech TV in 2006, though he remains on its board. He also is a board member of the National EBS Association, and serves on the organization's executive committee.
Michelle Warner | Director, Mobile WiMAX Services
Michelle is responsible for strategic planning, marketing and operations initiatives for Mobile Citizen. Previously, Michelle was the Director of Marketing at the St. Jude League where she managed the direct and online fundraising for the League's social justice, community development and education programs. Michelle also has experience working with nonprofits in the healthcare, economic development, higher education and athletic industries. Having built her career around helping nonprofits reach their full potential, Michelle understands the impact Mobile Citizen brings to organizations by giving them affordable access to the technology that will allow them to innovate and grow. Michelle received her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and holds a B.S. from the University of Illinois.
Adam Miller | National Director of Instructional Television
Adam, National Director of Instructional Television, joined the organization in 2001. Based in Colorado, he supports the five organizations that hold EBS licensees and was instrumental in making Mobile Citizen possible. Previously, Adam was the Volunteer Director for Special Olympics Texas. He also served for a year as an Americorps VISTA in Manor, Texas implementing literacy programs in the town's elementary schools. He holds a B.A. from the University of the South.
Hazel J. Bolsover | Business Manager
Hazel, Business Manager, joined the organization in 2002, bringing more than 40 years of accounting experience to her role. Based in Colorado, Hazel supports the five organizations that hold EBS licensees which allow Mobile Citizen to offer advanced mobile broadband service exclusively to schools and nonprofits. She previously served as the accountant for Colorado Society of Engineers, and was the Business Manager for Free Speech TV. Hazel was active in the construction of Denver International Airport and Coors Field in Colorado. She holds an Associate Degree in Accounting and a Construction Associate certification from Clemson University.
Halcyon Liew | Program Officer
Halcyon, Program Officer, handles philanthropic giving on behalf of the organization. Working closely with the Board of Directors, she manages the process of selection and management of grants funded. Halcyon has worked in philanthropy and communications roles for several well-known organizations including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, The Skillman Foundation and UNICEF. A science graduate with a teaching diploma from the University of Singapore, Halcyon has since obtained her M.A. in Mass Communications from Fairfield University, Connecticut and M.Phil. in Reconciliation Studies from the Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College, University of Dublin.
Kevin Lindsay | Spectrum & Operations Consultant
Originally engaged to develop marketing and recruitment methods for strategic partnerships with fellow EBS operators, Kevin re-established Harvests LLC in Denver to oversee an expanded range of services to the companies including spectrum acquisition and market intelligence tasks. In addition, he and the Harvest team provide sales and processing support for the Mobile Citizen initiative. Kevin's background includes more than a decade of marketing operations and product management with Honeywell's Demand Side Management Division in New York and Boston. He is also founder of InFocus Publications Inc. whose flagship title, Proscenium Magazine, grew to become New England's leading performing arts publication with an annual readership of more than 2.4 million. He holds a B.A. in Urban Affairs from Boston University and remains a Masters Degree candidate in Urban Affairs also at B.U.
