Cassie Bair, Mobile Citizen chief business development executive, is scheduled to moderate a panel at the Schools, Health and Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB) United States of Anchors Conference on May 31. Cassie’s panel is part of a Digital Inclusion Workshop co-sponsored by SHLB and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA). The workshop will offer a targeted discussion of local and national efforts to promote equitable access and use of the internet.

The third of three sessions, Cassie’s panel will focus on innovative digital inclusion programs. It will discuss NDIA’s grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to create a Digital Inclusion Corps, and the Kansas City Public Library leadership role in the Kansas City Coalition for Digital Inclusion, in addition to other programs across the country. The panel will feature Carrie Coogan from the Kansas City Public Library, Matthew Kopel from NDIA and Elizabeth Lindsey from Byte Back.

The Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition Seventh Annual Conference is scheduled May 31 – June 2, 2017 in Crystal City, Virginia. This conference is the premier conference on anchor institution broadband. It unites industry leaders across diverse sectors, such as education, health, government and broadband providers. The theme of this year’s conference is “United States of Anchors” and will focus on five tracks:

  • Broadband policy in the Trump Administration
  • Building telehealth networks to rural communities
  • The future of the E-rate program
  • Financing broadband networks
  • Anchor institutions and home access

As a strong supporter of digital inclusion and the anchor institutions that help contribute to a connected community, Mobile Citizen is excited to be a part of this event.
